Sturgis, SD: The Sturgis Buffalo Chip’s renowned Motorcycles As Art Exhibit is going big for 2024 with a full roster of celebrated motorcycle builders and artists taking part in the 16th annual show. Carrying on Michael Lichter’s tradition, who established and curated the exhibit for 14 years at the Chip, this one-time exhibition will be held at the newly updated Sturgis Buffalo Chip Event Center for six days only during the 84th annual Sturgis Rally. Rally-goers may explore the Motorcycles As Art Gallery Saturday, Aug. 3 through Thursday, Aug. 8 from 3 p.m. to midnight. More information and passes are available at MotorcyclesAsArt.com.
Riding on the successes of its first year with the new show format in 2023, Motorcycles As Art continues in its new direction. Renowned custom builder Kevin Dunworth will curate this year’s motorcycles and Maiden Moto’s Savannah Rose will curate accompanying artwork in a variety of mediums. The enhanced version of Motorcycles As Art will look deeper into the culture of motorcycling, presenting opportunities for a wider array of builders and artists to unveil and display their work in the updated Buffalo Chip Event Center.
“Not many places can you see a museum-quality art exhibit a hundred or so yards from a massive concert, but you can at the Chip,” says Sturgis Buffalo Chip CEO Rod Woodruff. “This year’s lineup of esteemed builders and artists will make this a Motorcycles As Art exhibit to remember, and the one to beat for years to come.
