Nine Free Bike Shows

Sturgis, SD – – Flashy chrome, crazy customization, new-tech engineering and old-school horsepower will all be on display at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip® in August when eight distinct bike shows make the venue the “Bike Show Capital of the World.” The motorcycle shows, scheduled to take place Saturday, Aug. 4 – Friday, Aug. 10, will feature the world’s most eye-popping machines on 2 or 3 wheels. Participants in most shows have the opportunity to win prizes ranging from cold, hard cash and custom trophies to full features in national magazines. Buffalo Chip’s Motorcycles As Art, Curated by Michael Lichter
Buffalo Chip Events Center near the East Gate, Free and open to the public – 2 p.m. – 10 p.m.
For the tenth year, this museum-quality exhibit curated by world-famous photographer Michael Lichter will feature the works of more than 40 builders and artists who have built and created works especially for this show. The 2018 theme is “Passion Built – Garage to Gallery.” All builders support themselves by other means, yet they all build professional quality custom motorcycles outside of a professional workplace.

Buffalo Chip School’s Out Chopper Show Presented by Haul Bikes
CrossRoads – 12-2 p.m. Registration, 3 p.m. Judging, 4 p.m. Awards
Bring your stretched beauty in and compete in three classes: best old school, best new school and judges’ choice. Prizes include $500 from Johnny Mac’s House of Choppers and $250 Strip Club Chopper gift certificate. Meet the judges, stars of HISTORY Channel’s “Counting Cars” Shannon Aikau, Ryan Evans and “Horny Mike.”

The FXR Show & Dyna Mixer
CrossRoads – 9:30 a.m. Registration, 11 a.m. Show Starts, 2 p.m. Awards
The 6th annual FXR Show and Dyna Mixer is a unique social opportunity to hang out and talk motorcycles. There are no trophies, just a bunch of friends hanging out and having fun. Winners receive great prizes from some of the biggest names in the industry. All donations, raffle and t-shirt proceeds benefit Lifescape of SD, formerly known as Children’s Care Hospital and School of SD.
Monday, Aug. 6
Full Throttle Florida Magazine Bike Show
CrossRoads – 12 p.m. Registration, 5 p.m. Awards, Registration $20 per class
This 10-class, ride-in show offers awards for 1st and 2nd place in each class, plus “Best in Show” and “Judges Choice” awards. A special custom trophy will be awarded to the “Best of Show” winner.
Tuesday, Aug. 7
Sportster Showdown presented by Led Sled Customs and Biltwell Inc.
Buffalo Chip Gardens near the East Gate – 2 p.m. Registration, 5 p.m. Awards
Sportster fans are encouraged to enter their bike for free and get ready for some crazy good fun. Awards are presented in five categories including “Best of Show,” which will be presented on the Wolfman Jack Stage later that night.
Women and WheelsTM Bike Show Presented by the Wild Gypsy Tour
CrossRoads – 8 a.m. Registration, 10 a.m. Judging, Noon Awards at Biker Belles Luncheon at The Lodge at Deadwood
All women with a hot ride are encouraged to enter this free show ‘n’ shine. Winners will receive bragging rights and awards. All are invited to stop by and ogle the machinery.
Three-DomTM Trike Show Presented by First Gold Gaming Resort and Bikernet.com
CrossRoads – 12-2 p.m. Registration, 4 p.m. Awards
The ultimate trike show is free, and three-wheel lovers will find friends ready to share the love. Awards and prizes will be presented in five classes: OEM, custom, conversion, sidecar and people’s choice.
Wednesday, Aug. 8
World’s Sexiest Bagger Bike Show Presented by Strip Club Choppers, “American Bagger Magazine,” “Urban Bagger Magazine” and Twisted Tea
CrossRoads – 12-3 p.m. Registration, 5 p.m. Judging
One of the most alluring bike shows to set up shop during the Sturgis Rally. A top prize of $500 cash from Strip Club Choppers and Twisted Tea and a $500 gift certificate from American Suspension are up for grabs. The best of show winner will be featured in “American Bagger” and “Urban Bagger” magazines.
Thursday, Aug. 9
World Famous Big Daddy Rat Rat’s Hole Custom Bike Show 30th Anniversary in Sturgis
CrossRoads – 12-2 p.m. Registration, 4 p.m. Awards
The granddaddy of them all, this show was started in 1937 by Karl “Big Daddy Rat” Smith. The Rat’s Hole Custom Show is now a world-famous biker tradition with 14 classes and some very cool prizes and nearly 60 custom sculpted trophies. The Best of Show winner will receive a free trip to the Swiss Custom – Customizing and Tuning Show in Zurich, Switzerland.
