Buffalo Chip, SD (Oct. 28, 2016) – The dates of an authentic rally tradition will continue unchanged in 2017 as the Sturgis Buffalo Chip will host headlining world-class concerts beginning the first Friday in August and end the second Saturday, Aug. 4-12. The Sturgis City Council’s recent resolution to change the official dates of the rally makes those dates coincide with the Buffalo Chip’s traditional schedule. The Largest Music Festival in MotorcyclingTM has been promoted as a ten-day rally for the last 27 years. It is unnecessary for event attendees to change their plans this year.
Past concerts at the Buffalo Chip have included superstars such as Aerosmith, Ozzy Osborne, Toby Keith, Kid Rock, Alice Cooper, Miranda Lambert and Willie Nelson. Although headlining concerts for 2017 have yet to be revealed, many of the destination’s other special events have already been confirmed. Celebrity bike builders and industry leaders will again gather at the Chip on Sunday, Aug. 6 to celebrate the opening of the Buffalo Chip’s ninth annual Motorcycles as Art Exhibition curated by Michael Lichter, a world-class motorcycle exhibit open free to the public. The Buffalo Chip’s star-studded Legends Ride will celebrate 10 years and again be held on Monday, Aug. 7, Biker Belles will meet and ride on Tuesday, Aug. 8, and the 26th annual Freedom Celebration and Ride honoring American veterans will take place on Thursday, Aug. 10.
New for 2017, AMA Pro Racing is bringing the American Flat Track Series to the Chip’s amphitheater. The inaugural race on the Buffalo Chip’s TT track is scheduled to take place on Sunday, Aug. 6. The Buffalo Chip Street Drag Invitational with Crazy John and hooligan flat track races are slated to take over the amphitheater on Wednesday, Aug. 9.
